First prize project

A team of six kids, aged between 10 and 13, showed dreams really can come true when they were awarded the top prize in a huge, worldwide climate change competition!

The kids, who make up the Forest Guard team, beat over 140,000 other entrants at the Children’s Climate Action Summit in Denmark, winning the competition’s Innovation Award with a cool project to help guard against forest fires.

The team’s Early Wildfire Detection System links solar-powered cameras to the internet, so forests can be watched for signs of fire. PlayStation makers, Sony like the idea so much they are now developing it for use. Well done, gang!
