Triskellion talk
NG Kids chats with Mark Billingham and Peter Cocks, the authors of the nail-biting Triskellion books...
NG Kids Tell a bit about your new book, Triskellion: The Gathering, please!
Mark Billingham The Gathering is the conclusion to the Triskellion trilogy. The story comes full circle for Rachel and Adam Newman who return home to America to discover the true source of their power.
NGK Cool! So where did you come up with the name Triskellion?
Mark The word looks good: the ‘skelly’ bit in the middle sounds quite spooky!
Peter We also wanted a name that sounded like a place in the West Country but that also has a meaning: the triskellion is one of the oldest symbols known to mankind and its origins are steeped in mystery.

NGK Where did you get your inspiration for the Triskellion trilogy from?
Peter Cocks The idea for the first book was sparked by a bronze age burial in Dorset. DNA testing proved that the warrior buried 3,000 years before was a direct ancestor of the man who still farmed the land today.
Mark The second book was based on research about the migration of neaderthal man from North Africa and across Europe, while the third was inspired by the aboriginal idea of connecting with your ancestors through "Dreamtime."
NGK Is there anything that almost happened in the trilogy that you ended up taking out?
Peter There were one or two sections that were deemed too scary, but we still think that there are plenty of passages in all three books that will have readers hiding under the bedclothes!
NGK Now the trilogy is finished, will you be working on anything else together?
Mark Yes! Walker Books have asked us for three more Triskellion-related books. They will be scary, historical prequels!
Peter The first one will be set in Elizabethan times with lots of gruesome action. The second will take place in Georgian London and the third will start in the First World War. All the stories have a connection to the present day!
